3) Most people have heard of their "credit report," but in reality each of us has more than one. How many credit reports does the average consumer have?

While there are any number of smaller reporting bureaus, most credit reports are based upon information supplied by one of three major credit reporting bureaus, Eqiufax, TransUnion and Experian. Each bureau tracks information slightly differently and has a different set of reporting relationships with your creditors. The result is that each bureau produces a slightly different report on you. It is important to make sure that errors or omissions (often just as damning) don't occur on one report even when the other two appear clean.
